Market Gardening Class
Join our host, Piper Klee-Waddle of Urban Dirt, for a Market Gardening class under the Feed Yard pavilion on Saturday, May 9th, from 11 am to noon.
Market gardening is a small-scale farming approach focused on growing fresh, high-quality vegetables, fruits, and herbs to feed your family and sell directly to local markets, restaurants, or consumers. In this class, you'll learn the essentials of growing and selling food on a smaller scale than crop farming, but at a higher output than a traditional backyard garden.
FAQs
What’s the set up?
1
We are an exclusively outdoor venue, but there is a pavilion that provides some protection from the elements. A limited number of tables and chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are unable to reserve tables for events. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Drink coolers are welcome, but please, no food. Tom Bean Burger is our on-site food truck.
Where do we park?
2
Events parking is held in the gravel lot at the Tom Bean Feed store. Overflow parking will be available in designated areas, if needed.
Can we smoke or vape?
3
Even though we are an outdoor venue, we are 100% non-smoking & non-vaping. We strive to foster a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone is comfortable. Thank you for your understanding.
Can we bring kids?
4
Yes, please. There is an open play lawn for kids and an assortment of sports equipment. We also have a ping pong table and paddles available on a first-come, first-served basis - we ask that you please be considerate of others waiting. You are also welcome to feed and take photos in front of the Texas Longhorns on the property!
